Cost of Living is Low in Wayne County

The Council for Community and Economic Research produces the ACCRA Cost of Living Index to provide a useful and reasonably accurate measure of living cost differences among urban areas.  Items on which the idex is based have been carefully chosen to reflect the different categories of consumer expenditures.

Each quarter, through the assistance of the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce, Wayne County participates in the study by pricing grocery items, housing, utilities, transportation, health care and misc goods and services.

The average for all participating places, both metropolitan and non-metropolitan, equals 100, and each participants index is read as a percentage of the average of all places.

Wayne County's rating for 2009 was 87.6%, the second lowest cost of living index in Ohio!
